Thomaston to replace lights

Nassau County has voted to give the Village of Thomaston $40,000 to replace their streetlights with LED bulbs, Mayor Steven Weinberg said at the village trustees meeting Monday.

Weinberg said the new bulbs are more efficient and that the village hopes to save a substantial amount of money on their electric bill as a result.

“We’re looking forward to being more fuel efficient,” he said.

Nassau County Legislator Ellen Birnbaum (D-Great Neck) was instrumental in getting the funding, according to legislative aide Daniel Small said.

Small said the village initially proposed the plan to Birnbaum.

Also at the meeting, appointed John Pschznica to the village Zoning Board of Appeals.

Weinberg said Pschznica is an architect who moved here recently from San Francisco.
