Police charged three Queens residents on Friday for grand larceny after an attempt to purchase $4,000 worth of merchandise at the New Hyde Park Sears with someone else’s Sears Master Card, according to Nassau County police.
Police also found an undisclosed amount of what appeared to be crystal meth on one of the defendants, Christine Fernando, 28, as well as six names and matching social security numbers including the owner of the Sears Master Card, according to police.
Fernando, Bryan Sumira, 38, and Tenzin Salen, 28, tried to purchase several men’s wallets, gift cards and assorted jewelry, according to police.
Fernando told the cashier she didn’t have the card with her but that she was an authorized signer and knew the social security number, date of birth and home address of the owner of the card, according to police.
The manager called the owner of the card, a 61-year-old male, who stated that he did not authorize anyone to use his card, police said.
Fernando and Sumira were arrested at the store, police said. Salin left the store before police arrived but was caught later outside the store, police said.
Sumira had a switchblade on him when arrested, according to police.
During the arraignments on Sunday at the Nassau County First District Court, Judge Andrew Engel adjourned the cases with conditional release to probation.
The cases are set to be heard again on Wednesday.
