Erin Reilley, who served as the Town of North Hempstead’s chief sustainability officer, resigned from her post last week — the second town employee to resign in two weeks.
Kim Kaiman, the executive director of the Town of North Hempstead’s Business and Tourism Development Corp., left on June 21.
Reilley began working for the town in 2014 and was responsible for implementing and maintaining all environmental programs for town residents.
She also advised the Town Council on local, state and federal issues; administered and designed municipal programs for habitat restoration, energy efficiency and community-wide renewable energy and secured; and administered state, foundation and private grants for the town.
Reilley, a Farmingdale resident, did not return a request to comment.
The town did not specify why she was resigning, but she is moving to Colorado, town officials said.
“Erin Reilley was a wonderful steward of the environment while serving as the town’s chief sustainability officer,” town Supervisor Judi Bosworth said. “She brought with her many new ideas and programs that our town and its residents have benefited from and will continue to do so in the future. We wish her the best of luck as she makes her new home in Colorado.”
In addition to her other duties, Reilley also led the town’s environmental education programs, including the school recycling partnership program.
Reilley obtained a bachelor’s degree in political science and government from Colorado College and a master’s degree in environmental policy and stainability management from the New School.
She was the grant administrator for the Glen Cove Community Development Agency before joining the town, as well as the environmental program administrator for Nassau County.
Reilley was paid $75,938.
The town is advertising her former job on its website.
Town Deputy Supervisor Aline Khatchadourian is also transitioning into a part-time role.
Her salary was reduced to $91,125 from $151,875.
Attempts to reach Khatchadourian were unavailing.
