Town of North Hempstead Supervisor Judi Bosworth and Council Members Veronica Lurvey and Mariann Dalimonte recently announced a slate of beautification projects for the Manhasset and Port Washington area.
This includes the conversion to LED street lighting along Plandome Road and Main Street, newly painted lampposts, and the addition of planters.
“The Town is always looking for new projects that will enhance the quality of life for our residents,” said Bosworth. “The conversion to LED lights, repainting of the lampposts, and the addition of lovely planters will help enhance both the beauty and safety of our community for residents and visitors, alike.”
“The LED lights, planters, and painted lampposts are truly a beautiful sight to see along Plandome Road,” said Lurvey. “They help beautify our streets and make them safer for drivers and pedestrians.”
“The Town removed the existing fence which will help return the area to a more natural setting for all to enjoy. The black lampposts on Main Street also add to our local downtown’s character and splendor,” said Council Member Dalimonte
180 lampposts along Plandome Road in Manhasset and Main Street in Port Washington have been replaced with more energy-efficient LED lightbulbs and the lampposts have been repainted with a fresh coat of paint.
North Hempstead’s Highway Department also assisted in adding flags and flower planters on the lampposts along Plandome Road. The flowers were donated by the Manhasset Chamber of Commerce as part of its Adopt-A-Pole and Planter project. The planters are maintained by the Town.
