North Hempstead Town Supervisor Judi Bosworth, Council Member Viviana Russell and the Town Board welcomed the students from SUNY Old Westbury to Town Hall on Jan. 8.

The town recognized the students who won the Sixth Annual Up to Us Campus Competition. The initiative aims to mobilize young people to promote fiscal responsibility. As part of winning the competition, the students were invited to Washington, D.C. to be recognized at the Peter G. Peterson Foundation where they also accepted a prize of $10,000; $5,000 of which they donated to the SUNY Old Westbury campus food pantry and $4,000 donated for scholarships for students at the school.
