Town to celebrate Hanukkah on Dec. 27

The Town of North Hempstead will celebrate Hanukkah with a Menorah lighting ceremony at Town Hall on Tuesday, Dec. 27 at 4 p.m.
Hanukkah, which runs from Saturday, Dec. 24 until sunset Sunday, Jan. 1 this year, celebrates the rededication of the Holy Temple in Jerusalem, when it is said that one day’s worth of sacred oil lasted for eight days, according to a press release from the Town of North Hempstead.
Latkes and other treats will be available.
Members of the local community and public invited to attend Menorah lighting and Hanukkah celebration.
It will take place on the front lawn of Town Hall at 220 Plandome Road, Manhasset.
In attendance will be Town of North Hempstead Supervisor Judi Bosworth, members of the North Hempstead town board, and Rabbi Shalom M. Paltiel of the Chabad of Port Washington.
Town officials & Rabbi Paltiel will be lighting the menorah as the sun sets in the background.
