A fatal crash in North New Hyde Park Sunday morning left two women dead and one man in critical condition, police said.

Near the intersection of Marcus Avenue and Union Turnpike, police said they responded to a single-car accident at 6:50 a.m. on Nov. 28. Authorities say they saw a 2009 Toyota Corolla overturned against a pole.

Two female passengers, ages 39 and 71, were ejected from the vehicle and suffered serious trauma, according to police. They were both pronounced dead on the scene by a medic, authorities say.

The driver, a 41-year-old man, was transported to the hospital where he remains in critical condition, police say.

At the time, Marcus Avenue was closed in both directions between New Hyde Park Road and Tryon Court.

An investigation into the cause of the accident is ongoing. Police have not released the identities of those involved in the accident.
