Two East Williston Board of Education trustees, Leonard Hirsch and Robert Fallarino, are running unopposed for re-election next Tuesday.

Residents can vote at the Wheatley School from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m., and the proposed budget will also be on the ballot.

Hirsch, from Roslyn Heights, has served two terms on the board. He has two children, one in Willets Road School and one in North Side School.

Hirsch noted the district-wide technology initiatives as well as literacy initiatives as some of his proudest achievements on the board.

He also said he is proud that every budget remained within the tax cap since the cap law was introduced by the state.

This year the East Williston Board of Education adopted a $60 million budget. The proposed budget is a 2.95 percent increase from the current budget.

It will raise the tax levy by 2.48 percent.

Going forward, Hirsch said safety and security enhancements are at the forefront of his goals.

The proposed budget has $300,000 allocated for security upgrades.

Efforts to reach Fallarino were unavailing.
