A shooting in Old Westbury left two people injured early Saturday morning, police said, following what they say was a dispute at a house party.

Old Westbury police responded to a call at a Pinetree Lane residence at 3:16 a.m., according to police. Two victims were taken to a hospital with nonlife-threatening injuries.

Old Westbury Police Chief Robert Glaser said the shooting, which he described as “rare,” was likely sparked by a dispute at a house party.

“I don’t know what the dispute was started over, but there were two victims who were both shot, minor wounds,” Glaser said.

Their status was unclear on Monday.

Glaser also said one of his officers attempted to stop a fleeing vehicle. But the driver refused to stop and the car crashed, he said, leading to the driver, Sherwin Bobb, being charged with reckless endangerment.

Bobb’s defense attorney is listed as the Legal Aid Society of Nassau County. A representative from the agency was not immediately available for comment on Monday.

“Regarding the shooting, it’s under investigation and we’re following through on whatever information that we have,” Glaser said.

“The investigation is going to be lengthy and involved.”
