2 Wheatley seniors sign letters of intent

The Wheatley School Athletic Program recognizes the accomplishments of seniors Antonio Deodato and Shawn Mosca, who on Nov. 14 signed letters of commitment to Long Island University – CW Post in the East Coast Conference and the University of Maryland, College Park in the Big 10 Conference, respectively.
Both athletes are receiving scholarships.
Deodato is a returning three-year starter and senior captain for the Wildcats Baseball team. Last season, he earned All County recognition.
Deodato was a starting pitcher and centerfielder on the 2016 Class B Long Island Championship and Nassau County Championship team. He has been a major contributor to Wheatley’s successful baseball program throughout his career. 
Deodato is a member of the National Honor Society and La Società Onoraria Italica, the National Italian Honor Society. He also participates in community service and volunteers to help others. 
Deodato is a member of the nationally ranked Long Island Body Armor Titans Baseball Club and was a member of this 2015 national championship team.
Deodato has been listed on the Blue Chip Prospects list of 2017 graduates for the past two years. In addition to playing baseball, Deodato helps younger baseball players develop their talents as a volunteer coach for the the Under 13 Travel Baseball team.
On Nov. 14, Deodato made his decision to accept the Long Island University – C.W. Post’s academic and athletic scholarship.
Mosca is a returning six-year starter for the Wildcats, a returning All State, state finalist, four-time All County and two-time Nassau County Champion.
As Wheatley’s most accomplished wrestler, Mosca has been a major contributor and the source for keeping the Wheatley wrestling program viable.
As the recipient of every wrestling recognition that Wheatley awards, Mosca has excited not only Wheatley enthusiasts for the past five years, but Nassau County and New York State wrestling enthusiasts as well.
Mosca is entering his senior season as one of the top ranked wrestlers in the country. His focus and dedication to the sport of wrestling has allowed his talent to be sought after by many Division I wrestling programs.
Mosca has been a member of the Ascend Wrestling Club, where he has competed nationally and has achieved All American recognition.
Mosca returns the help and instruction he has received from his coaches by mentoring the younger members of the club as a volunteer coach and supporter.
