Amsterdam to partner with Laffey Real Estate

The Island Now

Laffey Real Estate announced last Wednesday an exclusive agreement to represent The Amsterdam at Harborside, a luxury retirement community in Port Washington.

“This is the first time Amsterdam has embraced the brokerage community,” said Mark Laffey, the principal of Laffey Real Estate.

“Our marketing with online syndication will now bring Amsterdam to light for consumers that may not traditionally find Amsterdam’s units and its facility.”

The Amsterdam provides seniors with maintenance-free apartments and penthouses, as well as amenities that include health and wellness programs such as watercolor classes; cultural arts events and educational lectures;  and fitness classes like yoga and tai chi.

Currently 234 of its 239 units are occupied, Laffey said. He said the least expensive of the remaining units is a two-bedroom, two-bathroom apartment with 1,437 square feet that costs $1 million.  The most expensive  remaining unit is a two-bedroom, two-and-a-half bathroom apartment with 2,792 square feet that costs a little over $1.9 million.

“We are thrilled to partner with Laffey Real Estate to increase our online exposure and to present The Amsterdam as an option to folks looking to downsize [who] may not know of this wonderful supportive community,” said Sarah Gilroy, director of marketing and sales at The Amsterdam.

Laffey Real Estate has 13 offices throughout Nassau County, western Suffolk and Queens counties, including locations in Roslyn, Manhasset and Port Washington. The two managers of the account with Amsterdam will be Gail Zuckerman from the Roslyn branch and Donna Quinn from the Port Washington office, Laffey said.

Asked if Amsterdam posed a particular challenge for the real estate company, Laffey said it did not.

“It’s something where we’re putting together the right consumer with the right property,” he said.

“But that’s what we do all day every day.”
