United Way of Long Island recently elected Deirdre O’Connell to its Board of Directors. O’Connell is the CEO of Daniel Gale Sotheby’s International Realty, where she leads the day-to-day success of Daniel Gale Sotheby’s International Realty and the development of strategic initiatives and goals for the future of this highly innovative organization, including its recent rebranding efforts.

“I am especially honored to join the United Way of Long Island Board of Directors. Long Island is not only home, but a special place, and I believe in shaping a Long Island that advances the common good for all its residents,” remarked O’Connell.

“Deirdre’s professionalism and commitment to increasing the quality of life for Long Islanders make her a wonderful fit for our organization. We are pleased to welcome her to the Board,” explained Theresa A. Regnante, president and CEO of United Way of Long Island.

She has excelled as an agent and as a broker owner throughout her career and today is recognized as one of the top residential real estate executives on Long Island. Deirdre enjoys a longstanding reputation for exceptional customer service, unparalleled local knowledge and strong managerial skills that result in positive outcomes for Daniel Gale Sotheby’s International Realty sales agents, customers and clients.

Deirdre began working in real estate in 1991 following a career in public and employee communications for a major insurance company. She founded her own business, Deirdre O’Connell Realty Inc., in 2002 in Manhasset. She expanded her operation to the North Fork in 2005 with the opening of a Cutchogue office. When her successful business was acquired by Daniel Gale Sotheby’s International Realty in 2007, she joined the organization in a sales management position. Her role continued to expand in scope and responsibility, ultimately encompassing the sales oversight of the entire organization.

Deirdre grew up in New Suffolk and worked her first job at her family’s specialty market and deli, Nolan’s Village Market in Cutchogue. She currently resides in Manhasset, NY.
