Gold Coast film fest to kick off on Nov. 10

The Gold Coast International Film Festival returns this fall with the 6th anniversary of its star-studded festival. 

From Nov. 10-15, the festival will once again celebrate the films and filmmakers who capture our imaginations on the big screen. 

At GCIFF “Everyone Is Invited” to enjoy the very best in major and independent releases, filmmaker conversations, parties, awards, and glamour.   

This year’s festival events, many of them free, will include screenings of over 50 feature length and short films from multiple countries, dozens of Q&As with prominent filmmakers and celebrities, parties, family-friendly events and an Opening Night Gala benefiting the non-profit Gold Coast Arts Center. 

Thousands of area residents, visitors, members of the business and film communities, public officials, students and academics who come together at GCIFF to celebrate the art and influence of cinema in the charming and historic towns and villages of Long Island’s Gold Coast. 

Highlights from the 2015 GCIFF included a special preview screening of Warner Brothers’ film, The 33, with a Q&A with director Patricia Riggen; a conversation with Oscar-nominated documentary filmmaker Morgan Spurlock, the U.S. premiere of “We Are Twisted F***ing Sister” followed by an unforgettable Q&A with director Andrew Horn and members of the band, among many other exciting events.  

Other past honorees and special guests of the Arts Center and Film Festival include film industry VIPs Francis Ford Coppola, Baz Luhrman, Hugh Grant, Brian Dennehy, Paul Sorvino, Ed Burns, Bruce Dern, Isabella Rossellini, Eli Wallach, Gabriel Byrne, Lou Diamond Phillips, Phylicia Rashad , Bill Plympton, Phil Donohue, Navid Negahban and Joan Allen as well as composer Morton Gould, visual artists James Rosenquist, Oleg Cassini, Edwina Sandys and Bob Gruen, Broadway stars and Tony winners/ nominees Kelli O’Hara, Melissa Errico and Savion Glover and four-time Oscar winner for production and costume design Catherine Martin. 

The 2016 Festival will kick off on Nov. 10 with an Opening Night Benefit Gala, an evening full of glitz and glamour to raise money for the Gold Coast Arts Center. 

The arts center is a vibrant multi-arts institution founded in 1993 which produces year-round cultural classes, exhibits, concerts and programs that bring music, art, theatre, film, dance and educational experiences to students, teachers, seniors and general audiences from throughout the region. 

The complete 2016 GCIFF schedule will be released in Oct. 2016. Venues will include Soundview Cinemas in Port Washington, the Bow Tie Cinemas in Great Neck/Port Washington/ Manhasset/ Roslyn, the Gold Coast Arts Center in Great Neck and the campus of LIU Post.

2016 GCIFF Submission Information:

Get your film into GCIFF! The Gold Coast International Film Festival is now accepting submissions of short and feature films for its 2016 festival in November through Film Freeway. 

Regular Submission Deadline: Friday, July 15.

Late Submission Deadline: Monday, Aug. 15.

Final Submission Deadline: Thursday, Sept. 1.
