A California man was arrested early Monday morning while allegedly driving drunk through Lake Success with a 6-year-old girl in the car.

The man, Gurnam Singh, 43, of Stockton, is charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated under Leandra’s Law, which makes it a felony to drive drunk when a child younger than 15 is in the car.

A Nassau County police officer stopped Singh at 12:30 a.m. Monday after he crossed the yellow center line while driving south on Lakeville Road in his black 2011 Nissan, police said.

Singh smelled of alcohol, had bloodshot eyes and was slurring his speech, police said, and he was arrested without incident. The 6-year-old girl and her parents were also in the car, police said.

Singh was arraigned Monday on the Leandra’s Law charge and two other felonies: driving while intoxicated and endangering the welfare of a child. He also faces charges for two traffic violations.

Singh’s bail was set at $5,000. His next court appearance was set for June 29.
