Police are searching for two men who they say robbed a New Hyde Park storage facility and assaulted an employee on Tuesday evening.

The men approached a female employee after entering 123 Storage at 119 S. Third St. at 5:25 p.m. Tuesday and demanded she take them to the cash register, police said.

The men took cash out of the register and then took the woman into a back office, police said. One took out a black handgun and hit her over the head with it, police said.

The men then took the woman’s cell phone and wallet and ran north on South Third Street toward Jericho Turnpike, police said. The employee was taken to an area hospital for treatment of a wound on her head, police said.

Both suspects are described as black men.

One was wearing a gray sweatsuit and black and white basketball shoes. He has a bald head and no facial hair, weighs 160 pounds and stands between 5-foot-8 and six feet tall.

The other suspect was wearing a black T-shirt, black pants and black shoes. He has short hair and no facial hair, weighs 200 pounds and stands between 5-foot-10 and six feet tall.
