Three months after the Village of Saddle Rock hosted a movie shoot featuring Scarlett Johannson and Kate McKinnon, more stars came to the village on Monday, but this time to film a new Netflix series.
Cast and crew members from the Netflix series “Gypsy,” which stars Naomi Watts and Billy Crudup, filmed scenes for the series at a home on Bayview Lane.
Saddle Rock Mayor Dan Levy said the village’s look is appealing for movie producers.
“We made it attractive and easy for them to apply for the permit,” Levy said. “We assist in every way we can to film the movies, so they like to come back.”
“Gypsy,” which is a 10-episode series expected to be released some time in 2017, features Watts as a therapist, Jean Holloway, who “becomes too immersed in the lives of her patients,” according to IMDb.com.
Levy said there is a lot of work involved to ensure safety, but when film crews shoot in the village, it is a “win-win” for everybody as the community enjoys it.
“Everybody is on board because they enjoy having the village participate in these events,” he added. “People are very proud to have their place of residence be validated by all of these different production companies coming in.”
Levy added that the actors and actresses who come to the area are friendly and sometimes take selfies with residents.
In August, Johannson, McKinnon of “Saturday Night Live’’ and Ilana Glazer of “Broad City” were in Saddle Rock to shoot scenes for the feature film “Rock That Body” on Grist Mill Lane.
Levy said village officials will continue to work with production companies when they are interested in filming in Saddle Rock.
Monday’s one-day shoot saw Watts return to the North Shore after she was in Williston Park last November to shoot scenes at Hildebrandt’s restaurant on Hillside Avenue for the upcoming film “The Book of Henry.”
A location manager at the set declined to comment.
