North Hills clerk honored with financial credential

North Hills’ village administrator, Marianne Lobaccaro, was recently recognized as a Credentialed Municipal Finance Officer for her experience in government service.

Lobaccaro was given the title by the New York State Society of Municipal Finance Officers after three years as administrator and clerk-treasurer for the village, and a combined six years in local government.

To receive the credential, she had to meet requirements in continuing education regarding financial responsibilities and municipal law and then be reviewed by a committee, according to a news release from the organization.

She will be formally presented with a plaque and pin to recognize the credential at the New York State Conference of Mayors Annual Fall Training School on Sept. 13 in Saratoga.

She said the association helps in her role with North Hills because she can stay up to date on ever-changing state mandates and changes in law.

“I think continued education is very important in order to perform the job to my greatest ability,” she said. “[That] aspect is critical in your success in working for a village.”

Lobaccaro has been involved with the organization for seven years and is one of over 400 members throughout the state, the release said.

The organization was formed in 1956 to serve as a forum for town officers to meet and help improve their performance in government and recognize them for professionalism in their positions, the release said.

“We get together and we share our experiences to help perform our job and improve on our abilities,” Lobaccaro said. “It’s just to help serve the communities better.”

Lobaccaro also serves as second vice president of the Long Island Village Clerk and Treasurers Association, and will soon be moving into the first vice president position, she said.
