Police searching for driver who struck man in Thomaston

Nassau County police are investigating an accident that occurred Friday in the Village of Thomaston after a driver struck a pedestrian, then left the scene.
Police said at 9:53 a.m., a 43-year-old male was attempting to cross Middle Neck Road at Barstow Road when he was hit by a vehicle driving southbound.
After hitting the man, police said, the driver sped off.
Police said the victim suffered multiple traumatic injuries and was taken to a local hospital, where he is listed in serious condition.
Witnesses, police said, described the vehicle as a gray or bluish-gray Nissan Rogue.
Police said anyone with information regarding the accident to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS.
