Readers Write: Abramson-Brooks well prepared to serve Port ed board

The Island Now

This is an exciting and hopeful time for families in the Port Washington School District.

As we welcome a new superintendent who is highly regarded for his commitment to whole-child education and community engagement, we have the opportunity to vote for a Board of Education candidate who is well known for her dedication to these same goals. I am speaking of Deborah Abramson-Brooks.

It’s hard to imagine a candidate more prepared for the Board of Education position than Deborah, who is a passionate believer in public education and a leading voice for thoughtful, student-centered educational policies.

For more than six years, Deborah has worked tirelessly as an advocate for education reform, serving on multiple task forces and committees at the local, state, and federal levels.

Through her activism, Deborah has gained in-depth knowledge of the pedagogical and developmental issues that shape education policy; the laws and mandates that affect our district; and the pressing challenges that face our schools.

Deborah’s passion — along with her wealth of knowledge and expertise — will be of tremendous value to our school board, our new superintendent, our students, and our whole community.

On Tuesday, May 21, please join me in voting for the school budget and Deborah Abramson-Brooks.
