Readers Write: Biden presidency would be bad for Israel

The Island Now

“Don’t threaten us with cutting off your aid. It will not work. I am not a Jew with trembling knees. I am a proud Jew with 3,700 years of civilized history. Nobody came to our aid when we were dying in the gas chambers and ovens. Nobody came to our aid when we were striving to create our country. We paid for it. We fought for it. We died for it. We will stand by our principles. We will defend them. And, when necessary, we will die for them again, with or without your aid.”

According to the Jewish Press in a 2015 article, those words were spoken by Menachem Begin in June 1982, directly to the Democrat senator from Delaware, Joe Biden, who had confronted the Israeli prime minister during his Senate Foreign Relations Committee testimony by threatening to cut off aid to Israel. Biden opposed annexation of the West Bank in what was described as an angry session.

That’s right, only 32 years after the establishment of the tiny Jewish state, which was surrounded by 22 war-mongering, Israel-loathing Arab states, and only 35 years after the Holocaust savagely exterminated, gassed-to-death 6 million Jews.

Not a fluke, not a misstatement, not an error in judgment, but vintage Joe Biden, whose longtime antagonism and belligerence toward Israel has been exhaustively documented, most recently by Janet Levy in AmericanThinker.com (Is a Vote for Joe Biden in the Interest of American Jews?).

Levy reports that the Obama-Biden regime’s consistent anti-Israel policies interfered with the 2015 Israeli elections to get Netanyahu defeated and that their State Department granted $350,000 to OneVoice, a radical anti-Israel organization that supports Hamas and the boycott, divestment, and sanctions (BDS) movement.

Only space limitations prevent me from listing dozens more of Biden’s anti-Israel statements and actions. And now, the presidential candidate has pledged to reopen the embassy of the viciously anti-Israel Palestinian Liberation Organization mission in D.C. and, incomprehensibly, to rejoin the Iran nuclear deal, in which the arch-terrorist state in the entire world has vowed to exterminate the State of Israel and every Jew who walks the earth.

After the Holocaust, American Jews who followed politics––most did and do today––were forced to ask themselves, and taught their children to ask: Is it good for the Jews? Meaning will or could this or that statement or policy or law lead to another Holocaust?

To ask that question about Biden’s candidacy is to say without hesitation that he would be terrible for America and disastrous for Israel. If you’re a liberal American Jew determined to pull the lever or mail a write-in ballot for Biden, don’t! Don’t be a Jew with trembling knees. Your very survival and that of your family is at stake!
