The Boys Scouts of America is changing their scouting name and will be known as, ” Scouts BSA.”
This will end the word boy. This is to be undertaken to make the organization more inclusive to allow girls to join. Well, I guess, “Times are a changin.”
I was a Boy Scout myself in the ’50s and ’60s and went through the scouting program as a cub scout, boy scout and finally as an explorer scout.
As such I believe the scouting program serves our youth in many areas.
It teaches them valuable skills and promotes good moral values and the importance of civic responsibility and that also means dedication in helping those in our communities who are in the most need of help.
I, therefore, hope the new direction they are going will succeed.
Our youth of America truly need scouting. For remember our youth of today are tomorrows leaders.
