Readers Write: Vasa right person for Port library board

The Island Now

I am pleased to support Sima Vasa for Port Washington Public Library trustee.

I have known Sima for over a decade.

Our friendship began because of her kindness, insightfulness, and willingness to laugh, but it grew because of her basic humanity and integrity.

She is the person you can rely on to tell you the truth that’s good for you, even if you don’t want to hear it – and then will still find a way to make you feel okay about it.

Such a friend is gift; such a person on a board making decisions about money and policy is invaluable.

Sima juggles so many things so gracefully that I feel like she must have a clone.

She never complains but always manages to take on yet another task, whether it’s leading Girl Scout troops for her daughters, co-chairing the elementary school Green Committee, or getting dinner for a sick friend.

All the work that she does is in the interest of sharing her talents and enriching the world in which we live.  Her fundamental goal is to do good.

She manages to do all these things, by the way, in addition to running her own company with her husband, leading a weekly podcast focused on market research and technology, and raising two amazing girls.

Sima brings humility and an eagerness to learn to all that she does.

She listens carefully and offers ideas only when she feels fully informed of a situation.

I know that she will bring that caution, respect, intelligence, and work ethic to the library.  I am so glad she’s taking on this worthy community service!
