Police arrested a Queens teenager in New Hyde Park on Saturday morning who allegedly broke into several cars and a house in Mineola.
Police found the 16-year-old boy from Jamaica on Hillside Boulevard at 3:12 a.m. when responding to a report of a “suspicious male” entering a yard, Nassau County police said.
Officers set up a perimeter and found the boy on Brown Place, police said. After investigating further they found he was suspected in thefts from 13 cars and an attempted burglary in Mineola on Oct. 20, police said.
The boy allegedly tried to rob a house on Horton Highway and broke into four cars each on Marcellus and Wellington roads, and one car each on Horton Highway, Jefferson Avenue, McClellan Avenue and Seward Avenue, a police spokesman said.
He was arraigned in First District Court in Hempstead on Sunday on charges of second-degree attempted burglary, fourth-degree grand larceny, eight counts of petit larceny and four counts of attempted petit larceny. His bail was set at $500 and he is represented by a Legal Aid Society attorney, according to court records.
The boy was previously arrested in July and charged with two felonies and five misdemeanors, including burglary, criminal trespass and criminal possession of a weapon, court records show.
