The Williston Park Board of Trustees on Monday night unanimously approved a law to raise the cost of parking tickets to $75 from $50.

According to Mayor Paul Ehrbar, there is one hurdle to clear before the measure, Local Law 5, can take effect. “Local Law 5 will take effect upon filing and approval by the secretary of state,” Mayor Ehrbar said.

Parking violations didn’t pose much of a problem for residents  in April. According to the village’s police reports, only one ticket was issued for a parking violation.

With summer around the corner, the board said the village was working on getting the public pool ready. The pipes and the pool itself are in the process of being examined and, pending any major obstacles, it should be ready to open in time for summer.
