One of the steakhouses along Northern Boulevard’s steak row has closed, its owners announced on social media on Saturday, after about three years of doing business there.
Union Prime Steak & Sushi, once featured in The New York Times as a “very good” eatery with quality food and service, had offered a host of dry-aged steaks, sushi, Mediterranean seafood and other items like stuffed shrimp, lobster roll and blue point oysters.
“Thank you for your patronage,” the restaurant said on a Facebook and Instragram post. “We are sad to announce that the restaurant will permanently close its doors as of today.”
Its owners, Joseph Zangri and Bert Brodsky, also own City Cellar Wine Bar & Grill, which is described as a “New American eatery serving brick-oven pizzas, steaks & seafood, plus a wine cellar with 500 labels.” It is located in Westbury.
The eatery had succeeded Burton & Doyle, another steakhouse, which officially closed in February 2015.
Brodsky declined to comment on the closing.
Zangri could not be immediately reached for comment on Tuesday.
“That’s sad,” Traci Eimer Gilardi, a Great Neck resident, said on Facebook when hearing of the closing. “It was a nice restaurant.”
