A waterfront home in Kings Point hit the market for $50 million this month, offering a Versailles-style palace of marble, limestone and other materials imported from French estates.
According to the listing, the 26,000-square-foot mansion at Spring Knoll is a fusion of “an authentic Versailles and modern living” situated on three acres of land overlooking Long Island Sound.
Jason Friedman, a real estate agent with Daniel Gale Sotheby’s International Realty who is selling the home, said the mansion is unique because it features imports from French estates and “everything in it is real.”
Famous French designers also had their hand in crafting the home, Friedman said, which was built in 2002.
“The level of quality and detail is something personally I have not seen in any of the houses I’ve been in on Long Island,” Friedman said.
Among its features are a marble fountain imported from the Rothschild Estate in France, parquet de Versailles flooring, boiserie from centuries-old French chateaus, Verre Églomisé mirrors, pietre dure floors of highly polished marble and a limestone exterior.
The gated property also has an outdoor stone deck, a personal dock, library, an indoor movie theater, a workout area with a waterfront view, a blue marble pool, six bedrooms, 17 bathrooms, nine fireplaces and elevators.
The home was originally listed for $35 million. The price increased to $50 million on Oct. 2.
While Kings Point is no stranger to high-end homes, the $50 million price tag makes it the most expensive house currently for sale on the Great Neck peninsula, according to listings from realtor.com.
Annual property taxes on the home amount to $101,868.
