The Village of Floral Park’s attorney said Tuesday that an inquiry had cleared Police Commissioner Stephen McAllister.
The village started an internal investigation after testimony in October during a federal corruption case that McAllister, a former New York Police Department officer, was on a private plane in the company of prostitutes in 2013.
At the village board meeting on Tuesday, John Ryan, village attorney, said he had reviewed all documents and relevant witnesses and found “no factual or legal basis for this claim.” He said he recommended that the board take no action.
McAllister said the investigation was simple.
“This guy made allegations and I disproved them,” McAllister said.
Last month, Ryan told Blank Slate Media he believed the allegations against McAllister were “absolutely false.” Newsday previously reported that Jona Rechnitz, a former donor of New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio, testified during the trial of Norman Seabrook, a former New York City corrections officer, that in 2013 McAllister was on a private airplane with prostitutes and other NYPD officials bound for a college football game in Miami.
McAllister said he showed all documents proving he purchased his own ticket on a commercial flight and acquired his own rental car for the trip.
McAllister continued to fill the role of commissioner during the investigation.
