Michael Weinstock spoke with students at the Silverstein Hebrew Academy, in Great Neck, on the 20th anniversary of 9/11. He discussed his experience as a firefighter, at Ground Zero, on Sept. 11, 2001.
Weinstock encouraged the students to engage in volunteer work (also known as mitzvot) whenever possible. Rabbi Zevy Geisinsky extended the invitation.
In 2020, Weinstock was a candidate for Congress in New York’s Third Congressional District, which includes sections of Queens and Long Island. The campaign took an unexpected turn, when the president of the Vigilant Fire Department released a statement strongly suggesting that Weinstock was a fraud, who never served at Ground Zero.
