Tai Chi facilitated by Joseph Panico at Main
Tai Chi classes will be held on Saturdays, April 14 and 21, May 5, 12 and 19, and June 2, 9, and 16 from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. in the Community Room of the Main Library, 159 Bayview Avenue.
Tai Chi is an internal form of martial art that is practiced for health and self- defense. Incorporating breathing with slow and fluid movements, the exercise connects the internal focus of the mind with the external control of the body. Please wear comfortable clothes and shoes. Joseph Panico has been practicing martial arts for more than 15 years. He began his Tai Chi training in 1997 at Red Dragon Kung Fu Center.
Registration fee is $40 for the entire series of eight classes. In-person registration only. Cash, check or money order should be made payable to Great Neck Library.
Manhattan School of Music Graduate Students Perform Arias and Art Songs at Main

All are invited to join the talented graduate students from Manhattan School of Music for an afternoon of arias and art songs from some of your favorite operas on Sunday, April 15 at 2:00 p.m. in the Community Room of the Main Library, 159 Bayview Avenue.
The performers are Rachel Querreveld (soprano), Erin Reppenhagen (mezzo), Taicheng Li (tenor), and Curtis Serafin (piano). This performance was arranged by the Music Advisory Committee.
The Great Neck Library Music Advisory Committee, now in its 48th year, is co-chaired by founding member Gabe Chieco and Michele Ganz, and includes members Mary Dehn and Estelle Pace. This all volunteer committee of Great Neck residents represents a wide range of musical experience and performance.
Town of North Hempstead Mobile Passport Service at Main
The Great Neck Library is partnering with the North Hempstead Town Clerk to provide Passport Services on Monday, April 16 from 4:30 to 8 p.m. in the Community Room of the Main Library, 159 Bayview Avenue.
To participate, you must call to schedule an appointment at (516) 869-6311 or 311 and ask for Passport Service at the Great Neck Library. They will also tell you everything to bring to an appointment. All requirements and fees necessary to process passports at the Library can be found at https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/passports.html. No walk-in appointments.
Jerry Seinfeld’s Observational Comedy presented by Ira Epstein at Main
Join Ira Epstein, Ph.D. will discuss the observational comedy of Jerry Seinfeld on Tuesday, April 17 at 2 p.m. in the Community Room of the Main Library, 159 Bayview Avenue.
Jerry Seinfeld’s ability to observe things that others take for granted is one of the reasons why his material holds a truly timeless quality. This lecture will trace his development, analyze his comedic style and include many audio-visual clips.
Ira Epstein, Ph.D., co-author of “The Proficient Reader,” served as Professor and Chairperson of the Communication Skills Department at LaGuardia Community College, and directed the College’s Technology Learning Center.
GNL Tech Squad at All Library Locations

Allies in Wellness with Librarian Mimi Rabizadeh at Main
Attend this new study group led by Librarian Mimi Rabizadeh, focusing on a 360-degree perspective on wellness. Discussions will focus on four elements of wellness: physical, emotional, mental and spiritual. The next Wednesday Matinee at Main, about a mother who pursues her daughter’s murder case, will be shown on Wednesday, April 18 at 2 p.m. at the Main Library, 159 Bayview Avenue.
Film Screening and Discussion: Bag It! at Main
All Our Energy will screen the film, “Bag It!” and facilitate a discussion on Wednesday, April 18 at 7 p.m. in the Community Room of the Main Library, 159 Bayview Avenue.
What starts as a film about plastic bags evolves into a wholesale investigation into plastic’s effects on our oceans, environment, and bodies. Q&A will follow with representatives from All Our Energy, a not-for-profit that advocates, educates, involves and empowers the public to support renewable energy and act on environmental issues.
Encore Film at Station
The next encore film, about a mother who pursues her daughter’s murder case, will be shown on April 19 at 2:00 p.m. at the Station Branch, 26 Great Neck Road (2nd level), Gardens at Great Neck Plaza, above Best Market.
ESL with Lisa Greenwald at Main
Lisa Greenwald will hold an ESL conversation class on Friday, April 20 from 1 to 3 p.m. in the Small Multipurpose Room of the Main Library, 159 Bayview Avenue.
Greenwald began an ESL conversation class last year at the Parkville Branch of the Great Neck Library, and the Manhasset Public Library, focusing on conversation skills while incorporating correct grammar and pronunciation.
Greenwald also taught English in the Port Washington Library ESL program two years ago. She then went on to teach ESL to individual students at the Glen Cove Public Library. Lisa also tutors both adults and children privately at all levels of English competency. No registration required.
Writing Workshop with Lynda Aron at Main
Access your authentic voice and explore the power of imagination, self-expression and storytelling in this writing workshop facilitated by Lynda Aron on Fridays, April 20, May 18 and June 15 from 1 to 3 p.m. in the Large Multipurpose Room of the Main Library, 159 Bayview Avenue.

Pet Food Drive at All Library Locations
Assemblyman Anthony D’Urso, 16th Assembly District, in partnership with Long Island Cares is holding an Annual Legislative Pet Food Drive. All Great Neck Library locations are accepting donations of unopened cans and/or bags of dog and cat food, cat box litter, treats and toys during the entire month of April. All donations are appreciated.

In order to access this service, Library District residents can log on to cancellations.com, type in their zip code or Great Neck Library and obtain information on program cancellations or Library closings. In addition, at no charge, residents can request automatic e-mails from cancellations.com when the Library has posted any information. This is a great way for Library District residents who are connected online to be advised of weather related changes in Library hours or programs.
