Performance Poets Readings at Station

Join this monthly open mic poetry forum hosted by George Pafitis in collaboration with the Performance Poets Association. The next readings are scheduled for Saturdays, July 7 and Aug. 4 at 1 p.m. at the Station Branch, 26 Great Neck Road, Gardens at Great Neck Plaza, above Best Market. Participate in reading your own work and/or listen and support others. A featured poet will read for 20 minutes at each session, followed by an open-mic. Open to all.

This aims to be a fun, enlightening, and entertaining workshop in which Cindi Sansone-Braff will share what she has learned about life, love, and the Hereafter from talking with the dead. Bring questions and learn how you can hone your psychic gifts.

The next Wednesday Matinee, about an arthritic Nova Scotia woman who works as a housekeeper while she hones her skills as an artist, will be shown on Wednesday, July 11 at 2 p.m. in the Community Room of the Main Library, 159 Bayview Avenue.

Lauren Skelly Bailey Art Reception at Main
Coral Awareness

Meet ceramic artist Lauren Bailey Skelly for a reception of her work on display in the Lower Lobby Art Gallery on Wednesday, June 11 from 5 to 7 p.m., Main Library, 159 Bayview Avenue.

Thanks to the New York State Council on the Arts, and the Huntington Arts Council, this summer ceramic artist Lauren Skelly Bailey is featured at the Great Neck Library as part of her Creative Communities Grant project.

Lauren’s gallery exhibition features new sculptures created from research on the effects global warming has had on corals. Lauren found that corals emit their own algae tissues resulting in the coral turning completely white. She has created pieces focusing on the metamorphosis of healthy corals to bleached corals.

Finding Your Creative Spark

Meet YA author Lindsay Champion on Wednesday, July 11 at 7 p.m. in the Community Room of the Main Library, 159 Bayview Avenue.

Join Lindsay Champion as she talks about her debut young adult novel “Someday, Somewhere,” and chats with teens about how to tap into your creative energy and find your voice. Mindfulness Meditation facilitated by Carolyn Carpentiere at Main

Join Carolyn Carpentiere for Mindfulness Meditation on Wednesday, July 11 at 7:15 p.m. in the Community Room of the Main Library, 159 Bayview Avenue. Meditation is a practice that strengthens our focus and attention, as well as releases stress to stay healthy. Open to all skill levels. Bring a mat or use a library chair that will be available.

Carolyn received her 200 hour yoga certification at Long Island Yoga School in 2009 and has continued to work in and study many other holistic solutions to health including Mindfulness Meditation and Reiki.
