Two Wheatley seniors, Matthew Baltzer and Josh Randazzo, were recently recognized for their success on and off the football field.

Baltzer, a team captain and quarterback on the Carle Place Wheatley football team, has received the National Football Foundation Scholar Athlete Award. This award is presented to a senior who is a starter on the football team and has demonstrated academic excellence throughout his high school career. Baltzer, a starter on the varsity football team, has achieved a high grade point average while pursuing a rigorous academic course of study.

Randazzo, a two way starter as an offensive and defensive linemen on the Carle Place Wheatley football team, has received the Long Island Association of Football Officials Unsung Hero Award. This award is presented to a player who puts forth exemplary effort, attitude and spirit every day of the season, at practice, at games and during the off-season. Randazzo is an outstanding contributor to the team’s success, on and off the field.

Baltzer and Randazzo have participated for four years in the Carle Place Wheatley football program.

Both were starters for the Nassau County Conference Four Finalist in their junior season. As seniors, Baltzer and Randazzo led the team to the play-offs.

In addition to his academic success, Baltzer has been a member of the Wheatley’s basketball and Nassau County Class B Championship baseball teams. Randazzo has continued his success as a member of the Wheatley wrestling and baseball teams.
