Where is the world going today? Part I

Philip A Raices

By the time you read this column Passover and Easter will have been celebrated by us once again, and year after year the traditions will continue, hoping for more peaceful times going forward.
This column will not address real estate up front this week but some important crucial and critical issues that will, directly and indirectly, affect the value of your real estate in the future. It might seem like a rant, and yes, it is, so here goes!
What is going on in this world, especially in the U.S.?

We have our parties always in disagreement, the laws protecting our environment are being rolled back, trade agreements reneged (but they should be fixed to be fair to us), current health care being unwound and dismantled, and whatever else that seems helpful is being abolished!

But what is replacing those actions, nothing really of true substance? Tax reform, humbug! What they seem to be passing will surely have a negative effect on more people’s pocketbooks, especially what is left of what we have called, the “middle class” since WWII. The wealthiest among us will always benefit the most, but I ask, why should this be?

I have to assume that greed and all that is attached to it, is the mindset of those that feel and act that nothing else matters.

This is not just about the U.S., it’s a global thing that is practiced by those in power as well those that are wealthy and are connected; just look around, read and come to your own conclusions.

You just might see, what I see; the collapsing of our system, slowly but surely or the transformation of our basic democracy to something that we have never seen or experienced in our country.

There was nothing wrong with the system, that cannot be fixed, if the laws that are on the books are executed and adhered to as well as tweaked and modified to work with current day issues to benefit the masses.

Change is always most difficult for the status quo; but should be embraced to benefit the majority. The number one way to accomplish this is through massive improvements and opportunities in funding education.

Allowing those that are least educated to improve and excel, instead of kicking them to the curb as is done in most countries.

There are those that have come from poverty, that have been able to succeed way beyond what would be considered the norm; but have been able to accomplish this by having either a great support system from parents/grandparents that have instilled in them the motivation to be better and succeed or they themselves somehow and someway, knew what they wanted out of life and went for it, and didn’t allow any obstacles to stop them!

I have seen throughout history that the less educated the people the easier it was and is to control them, with the least amount of pushback and protest; women know about that for sure!

Brainwashing and providing basic staples for them seem to have worked up to a certain point, until, some finally woke up and realized what the scam really was about; control and accumulation for a few. I believe the Electoral College was created by President Jefferson (although he thought it was his worst idea a short time later), was just for that reason, although some might argue, there were other reasons, and nowadays to balance out the more populous states with those that are less populated.

We can fix what we have if there are enough people in our government that will be willing to step up to the plate and say what they really feel, believe and know to be right and not hide behind what is politically correct; and that is really what is going on today.

As they say, we can spread the wealth for those that have it and utilize their money in the ways to improve our educational system as the number one priority.

Automation is and will replace many, many jobs as we go forward into the future; however, new industries will also be created, for those that are educated enough to be able to perform in those new jobs.

The only way to make sure there are enough qualified individuals to handle those positions is through their education and training. That is where the majority of our country’s and other country’s focus should be; I mean laser focused so that the preparation will bring our world to a better place.

The unraveling of our systems, through smoke and mirrors, never worked throughout history.

Come Back for Part II, next week!
