Williston Park celebrates Santopetro’s 100th

Family, friends and Williston Park village officials gathered Sept. 13 to celebrate the 100th birthday of Williston Park resident Fred Santopetro.

Santopetro was born on Sept. 13, 1917 in Manhattan and was a resident of Williston Park for 56 years.

Santopetro, grew up in Brooklyn and was married to his wife, Viola, on May 29, 1943. They were married for 68 years. He has 5 children, 14 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

Santopetro, served in the Army during World War II from 1942 to 1945. He was an Amalgamated Lithographer for Local 1. In 1945 Santopetro joined the American Legion Post 144 in Williston Park.

Willisto Park Mayor Paul Ehrbar presented Santopetro with a proclamation and declared Sept. 13 “Fred Santopetro Day” throughout the Village of Williston Park.
